Science brings awareness to each student of the world around them. It highlights our current knowledge of the world and delivers an understanding of the pathway that Science has taken to develop this understanding. It does, however, challenge students to critically analyse our beliefs as Science is an area undergoing continual change with improved technology being a driving force.
Science also encourages the development of skills for practical investigation and problem solving. Stage 4 students are introduced to the idea of fair tests and introductory skills in data analysis. As students move through Stage 5 and then into Stage 6 it is expected that they can develop and conduct more complex investigations with the development of higher order analytical skills and an ability to draw in depth conclusions from the data collected.
