HSC Ancient History
The course requires the study of four topics with each topic worth 25%.
The following topics are most likely to be studied but may be changed due to student interest.
Topic 1 |
The Study of an Ancient Society – The Spartans(Greek History) The study of this early Greek society which developed into warrior society very different from other Greek societies.

Topic 2 |
Compulsory Study- The Cities of Vesuvius – Pompeii & Herculaneum(Roman History) The study of the archaeological and written sources relating to the eruption of Mt Vesuvius in 79AD and the destruction of these cities.

Topic 3 |
A Personality & Their Times–Agrippina The Younger(Roman History) The study of the life and times of Agrippina and how she influenced her times. How is she portrayed by ancient and modern historians?

Topic 4 |
The Study of an Historical Period– The Julio-Claudian Emperors(Roman History) The study of Ancient Rome during the reign of the emperors Tiberius, Gaius (Caligula), Claudius and Nero. Or An Egyptian Historical Period or The Greek World 500 – 446 BC
